MY STORY

A journey towards health

Battling years of chronic illness led me on a roller-coaster of a journey, exploring all types of healing modalities. It wasn’t until I discovered the connection between the mind and the body and understood emotional dysregulation to be the underlying cause of my physical health issues that my symptoms began to ease.

My work has consistently reflected my healing—the challenges I’ve faced, my own journey of recovery, and observations and insights that I’ve gleaned along the way.

The evolution of my work

Most people reading this will know me as Breathe With James. I created a successful breathwork business and launched a breathwork app, but then I realised I wanted my work to expand and incorporate wider nervous system health and Jungian psychology, too.

As powerful as the breath is, it’s important to recognise that it is just one piece of the healing puzzle—not the entirety. It will now be just a piece of my work, too.

At the moment my work is focused on weaving together nervous system health and Jungian psychology. A combination that has the potential to be incredibly powerful and transformational.

I’m currently halfway through a Master’s in Jungian psychology—deepening my understanding of how to best do this. I hope you’ll join me on this unfolding path.

Mobile app interface for relaxation sessions with categories: Sleep, Unwind, Soothe, Restore, and time durations; includes thumbnails of new sessions.
Smartphone screen showing a meditation app interface with a hand in the background. Text reads "Slow it down" with a description about activating the vagus nerve for relaxation. Includes play controls and a progress bar.

My breathwork app (and first significant creation!) is filled with breathwork practices designed to down-regulate your nervous system and move you into a more relaxed and settled state.

There is also a ‘Learn’ section where you can learn about breathwork and nervous system science.

I’m not a psychotherapist, but I can offer a (sometimes) transformative space that holds you in weaving together somatic and transpersonal psychologies.

I have followed James’ work for 5+ years. I have learned so much from him and have enjoyed watching his teachings evolve and grow. James’ approach is rooted in integrity, backed up by comprehensive research and truly embodied too. I couldn’t recommend him highly enough.

When traditional therapies couldn't help me, Breathe With James was the one hand that caught hold of me drowning beneath the waves and I owe my life to the steady, gentle practice that enabled me to reach a place of safety and quietly begin to live again.

Any time James shares his thoughts and contemplations I find myself nodding to the screen. His content is always beautifully written, well researched and most importantly to me, based on James’ lived experience with chronic illness.
